MF Husain
This is a really fascinating project that I have been working on, on and off, over the last few months with good friends from Lightfield Studio and Empty. Those guys are working tirelessly to produce some cutting edge work for an exhibition in Qatar that celebrates the life and work of exiled Indian artist Maqbool Fida Husain, or MF Husain as he is known.
One of the reasons that it is so interesting is that it blurs the line between AI and traditional archive based filmmaking. My role is to produce a short film about the artist, which will be used to greet visitors ahead of their journey around the more immersive experience of the exhibition on him and his work. It serves as an introduction to the man, and I’ve been given lots of fantastic material to work from, ranging from his own art films (Through The Eyes of a Painter, Gaja Gamini) to old ITV documentary footage and a quite high budget piece produced more recently by the Qatar Foundation. I hope to able to share the edit when the exhibition opens..
