KENSINGTON PALACE
Phased restoration film. Fuller’s Builders are onsite for 2 years, undertaking a range of delicate and sympathetic restoration processes. Shown here is the removal of a lion’s head cornice from the 7th floor roof.
These cornices were made 331 years ago, from trees that were already 300 years old. Their removal is a delicate process.
This is a current, ongoing film project due for completion early 2027.
Front elevation of Kensington Palace
7 floors up, we can see the Lion's Head cornices, there are dozens in total, 2 of which need extensive repair. These are 331 years old! And at the time of their installation, were from 300 year old Norwegian pine trees. So the wood is over 600 years old, and will be repaired sympathetically.
Delicate work - Kensington Palace team, cameras and restoration specialists all observing in 30 degree heat.
Dr Lee telling us all about it
